What exactly am I talking about when I say: If you build your online Community, they will follow? Most businesses select 2 or more social media platforms to focus on and are rarely active on every single platform.
So why do you need to lead your followers (Community) to other platforms and even more importantly your website? We have to remember that we don’t own those social media pages. What happens if one of our favorites is gone one day?
It could happen. Remember the days of Blab and Meerkat? OK, well some may not, but for those that were using them daily, I certainly hope they built their Community AND told them where else to find them.
What if we get put in the dreaded Facebook or Twitter “Jail”? You can only imagine just how difficult it is to get in touch with someone that can help in those large organizations. You really have no say in the matter. Ideally you want to do your best to stay on their good side, but honestly, who has read all of their Terms & Conditions? That is why you need your Community to know where they can find you – on any social media platform (and your website)!
Online video and Livestream help build your Community by showing your authentic self. Yes, this is yet another time I will say #ILoveLivestream! It really helps show you are human and allows your clients to relate to you. People invest their time (and their money) with people they connect with and trust.
Livestream shows your authentic self and accelerates this trust. I’ll be delving deeper into building your Community and leading them to your website in future blog posts, stay tuned!
Once you’ve built your Community, how will they simply follow you to different platforms? ASK!
That’s right, you simply have to ask them. You can make graphics to share to let your Community know that you are on other platforms and how to find you. It’s even better if you are able to get the same username across platforms. This can be difficult, so if you think you might use a platform in the future, it’s a great idea to go ahead and grab your username.
You can occasionally mention your username and let people know what platforms they can find you on and how during a Livestream Broadcast. Sharing a quick snap is great for this too! Share images to remind people to follow you on other social media platforms. This is why automation is an important part of your social media strategy. Go ahead and set up these “asks” to repeat. The frequency will depend on the platform, as Twitter goes much faster than others and they should be tweeted more frequently.
Are you asking your Community to follow you on different social media platforms? Do you have any other ways you get your Community to follow you to other platforms? We’d love to hear!
