Use Events & Adventures to Grow Your Business
Getting out in your local community can help grow your business and brand recognition. Make sure to find events that compliment your business, or organize your own. I have four great ideas to help you come up with local events (and a few adventures too!).
Fundraising Event
If you are involved in any local nonprofits, talk to them and see if there is some type of an event that you could attend, sponsor or help organize for them. If you don’t have a nonprofit that you help, I really recommend that you find one! Remember that helping nonprofits doesn’t always mean donating money. It can also be spreading the word about their work, helping with an event or volunteering your time. Is there something your business does that could benefit a nonprofit?

I’ve been volunteering my time with a local nonprofit, PAWSitive Supporters, for several years now. I like that I know the founder and that anything I do goes back to the local community and I can see the difference I am making. PAWSitive Supporters has a low cost, no cost spay neuter program specifically for Cobb County, Georgia.
Social Events
I’ve also volunteered at several of PAWSitive Supporter’s wine and beer tastings. There are numerous different local venues that have wine tastings and beer tastings that love to partner with other organizations to help draw in more customers. It can be an added bonus for the venue if it’s an event for a nonprofit and they will usually donate a portion of the proceeds from the evening.
Work it out so that you can have literature for your services or a few products to showcase and even donate a door prize. Don’t forget to collect email addresses!
Live Stream Events
Don’t forget about online marketing with live stream. By 2019 video is expected to be 90% of all online internet traffic. That’s a huge number that you want to take advantage of by incorporating video and live stream in your online strategy for events.
This can include live streaming at vendor events and when you have your own events. Don’t forget to make sure you are promoting the events ahead of time on live stream and ask your fans to share that live stream.
Don’t forget about conferences and associations. People love it when you come to their event and do live stream because they’ll want to share it out to promote their event. While doing that, they will also be promoting you!
Creative Adventures – a Different Kind of Event Idea
While it may not exactly be an event, you can also come up with some kind of creative adventure to live stream. If it’s something fun and unique, you’ll definitely get more live stream viewers.
I wanted to take my dogs swimming and dock diving so I figured I would use live stream while we were having a good time (at least they were!). Of course, my MuttButs didn’t really want to cooperate by swimming, instead, they wanted me to push them around on a float all afternoon!
It got lots of attention because they weren’t cooperating and wanted me to do all of the work why they enjoyed watching the horses and emu nearby.
While it may not be swimming with your dogs, find something fun you can do to show off local attractions like going outdoors and showing off different nature trails or parks. You may even be talking about things in your local community that your followers may not know about and may be interested in.
It also gets your name out in front of more people when they see a different unique idea, they’ll talk about it and share it. When I took my dogs swimming and I was talking to people about it afterward, a lot of people didn’t know there was a place to take your dogs swimming in Atlanta. It gave me an opportunity to get their information and send them a link to my live stream broadcast.
Whether it’s your own event or attending a local vendor event, they can be great ways to get your name and brand out in front of your local community. Don’t miss out on some great opportunities!
