3 Tips to Increase Google 5-Star Reviews
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has changed so much over the last few years. Gone are the days of keyword stuffing your blog and metadata. Google caught on and now there are so many factors that go into it that we often don’t have time to incorporate it all.
That’s where Google 5-Star Reviews come in. The more reviews you have on Google for your business, the higher it shows up when someone searches for you. This is especially true for local companies. Notice when you search for a local store, the ones with the highest rating and the most reviews come up at the top!
In the past, with Google, you had to have at least five reviews on Google in order for it to show that you had reviews. That has changed a bit recently. Now it only takes two, and sometimes even just one review!
Besides the SEO impact, great reviews can also help you gain new customers: 90% of the people search online go and look at reviews, and 88% of people trust those reviews online.
Askin ain’t gettin…… WRONG!
Remember that quote from Gone with the Wind: “Askin ain’t gettin”? Well, that’s not necessarily the case with reviews. The first step is to ASK for them! If you have a customer that you did a fantastic job for, and they really liked your services, they might go online and review you, but then again they might not think about it. Go ahead and Ask For It!
Easy Peasy
Don’t simply ask your customer to give you a review, make it easy for them! They are much more likely to follow through if you make it as easy and simple as you can.
For instance, have a short print out or even your business card that has a DIRECT link for them to review your business. If they have to search for it, many are less likely to actually write the review.

It’s all in the Follow-up
Finally, don’t forget to follow-up. Some may have good intentions when you ask for them to review you but get sidetracked and forget. If you notice that they have not reviewed you after a few weeks, go ahead and send them a follow-up. Ask them how they are enjoying either the business, or the product, or service that you provided. Ask them if they have had a chance to review you and send them that easy peasy link.
This is a great opportunity to touch base with them and ask how they are enjoying either the product or service that you provided. At the end, you can ask them if they have had a chance to review you and send them that easy peasy Google 5-Star link!
Bonus – Reply!
Anytime someone reviews you on Google, or any other platform for that matter, respond to them! If you’re getting a five-star review, make sure you go in and thank them for the review. Let them know that you’re there for any questions or any follow-up that they have.
If you get a bad review, it is super important to go in and respond to those reviews as well. Whether it is something that you did that was a mistake and you need to go in and correct it or you might simply have a customer that is disgruntled and no matter what you do, they are not going to be happy.
Sometimes when you make extra the effort, you may get them to improve their rating based on how you handle the situation. If someone even changes a one-star review to a three-star review, that could be really beneficial to your business and help your overall ranking.
