Freebie: Checklist to Rock your Instagram Bio!
Rock Your Instagram Bio
If you’re not active on Instagram yet, don’t miss out on this opportunity! There are over 200 Million active users and those users are on there to SHOP! Unlike Facebook, where users primary focus is to connect with friends and family. Your Instagram Bio is the most important real estate on the platform. Make sure you are using it wisely!
Instagram Business Account
The first thing you need to do is make sure that you have a business account on Instagram. This is because it allows you to see insights on your post and also your followers. That means you know what posts are getting the most traction and when your followers are online and active. This is instrumental to creating your content and posting strategy.
Once you become a business account, you’ll see those insights for new posts, but they aren’t available for any posts prior to becoming a business account, so when you finish reading this blog, go set it up!
Tell Followers HOW to Connect!
You need to make sure your Instagram Bio is completely filled out with your phone, email and location. When you put those into your business account and someone checks out your bio, they are clickable links. When they click on the “call me” it will open up in the phone app so that your customers and potential customers can call you directly. They don’t have to copy and paste and get frustrated and give up! The same for email and directions.
If you have a home office and don’t want to put your full address on Instagram, your city and state work too!
Use Your Clickable Link Wisely
The only clickable link to your website on Instagram is in your bio, so make sure that you’re using it to optimize results. Remember, you can change that link, it doesn’t have to stay the same.
For instance, you may want to just put a link to your website, but if you are talking about a specific product or service one week or one month and you’re really trying to emphasize that, you might want to put a link in there to that special or promotion that you’re doing so it takes them directly to that information and they don’t have to search your website for it.
Or if you’re doing a freebie or contest, make sure that you change and put that link in your bio. Just remember to update your link when the special ends!
Get Personal, but not TOO Personal!
You only have 150 characters to create your bio, so make it count! Use bullet point style with emoji’s to attract attention. You also want to include something a little bit on the personal side (not too personal now!) For instance, on my bio, I work a lot with pet businesses so one of the things that I’m passionate about is volunteering for animal-related nonprofits, specifically PAWSitive Supporters. I note that and while it’s a little bit personal, it helps my followers get to know more about me and what I’m passionate about.
Your Instagram Bio Photo
Your picture that you use in your Instagram bio is really important. A lot of businesses might think they need to use their logo, but especially for small businesses, entrepreneurs or solopreneurs, a picture of you or your team is best. It helps your followers relate to you and feel like they know you better and helps build the know, like, trust factor. When creating your picture the size is 110 x 110.
Don’t dismiss your logo though, you should be putting it on all of your posts!
TAG, You’re IT!
Did you know you get more engagement with posts that have a location tagged in the post? If you’re out somewhere, go ahead and tag a location on your post. However, you can also tag your own business!
If you try to type your business in and it doesn’t come up, I have a tip for you. Instagram is owned by Facebook and your Instagram account is connected to your Facebook page. Make sure your Facebook Page has your location set in the about section. When you search for it, it will also come up as a place.
Once it comes up as a Place on Facebook, you will be able to tag it on Instagram!
