Local Vendor Events
Local vendor events are a great way to get out in the community and also get your business name out there. Whether they are small events, large events, or if you sell a service or products. Getting out to vendor events can really help get your name in the public eye. When just starting to consider vendor events, it can be hard to find events.
Friends are a great resource
The first place that you can go is your friends. Your friends have probably been to different events and they might know of something that you hadn’t heard of or knew about but forgot! Besides, your friends want you to succeed and are happy to help.
Facebook Groups
The second place that you can find vendor events are listed in Facebook groups. Just type in your local area and events, vendor events, parking lot parties, all kinds of things like that will come up. You will find different groups on Facebook and that’s specifically what they post. You may find events that are anywhere from large, more expensive events that may cost a couple of hundred dollars, down to the smaller events that may cost $15 to $25. It depends on what you’re looking for but Facebook is a great place and especially Facebook groups to find local vendor events.
Nextdoor.com
If you haven’t been on NextDoor.com, you really must check it out. It’s very local. You join in your subdivision and can view posts in the general vicinity. It is really great for the local community. You can ask your neighbors by posting: “I’m looking to showcase my new business and do you all know of anything that is coming up in the future that has a vendor event that I can be a part of?” I’ve done that before and gotten lots and lots of responses.
Church Craft Fairs
Make sure not to forget to check with local churches. A lot of times, there will be craft fairs in the spring and in the fall, but especially during holiday time. Most of them are usually a little less expensive. There are some really large ones that may be on the expensive side. You may want to ask your friends about local church events because they can be hard to find out about until after the registration period is up.
Local Magazines
The fifth item I would check is local small magazines. If your community has a local free magazine (or two) that you can pick up talks about the community. There may be a section in there that says ‘Local Events’ and throughout the magazine, there will probably be events that are featured in there where they’re talking about events that are coming up.
Bonus Tip for Vendor Events
If you pick up a magazine and it’s a month or two old and there’s an event that you missed, make a note of it. Put that event, along with contact information, on your calendar to make sure that you get registered in time for the next year.
Go ahead and make a list of everything that you are looking at for your vendor events along with what time of year it is normally held. This way you will be able to register before the deadline and before they get filled up.
