How do you celebrate your pet’s birthday?

He is still taking the adequan injections every Monday and they are really helping his arthritis.  If you missed my post on his arthritis issue, make sure to check it out.

Riedi, Margi & I celebrated with extra special Birthday treats, however I bought so many special treats that Riedi & Margi wanted to eat them all in one sitting.  I had to save some so we could celebrate for several days.

They also got to have some of their favorite Doggy Crack in their interactive toys and Himalayan Yak Chews.  It’s especially important for senior pets to have interactive toys to keep their minds working.  The Yak chews are great for their teeth too.  As our pets age, going under anesthesia is something that has to really be discussed with your vet, so if they keep their teeth clean, they may not have to have that dental cleaning so soon.

I celebrate all of Riedi & Margi’s birthdays.  I used to make them cakes, but it would make such a large cake that it took them forever to eat it (I’m a mean mom and wouldn’t give the whole thing to them to chow down on!).  Now I typically buy them special treats and the three of us have a party.

I would love to take them on another adventure like when we went swimming this year.  It’s way too cold for that, but maybe by April when Margi has a Birthday, it will be warm enough for some type of excursion.  I would love to visit some of the local waterfalls in the Atlanta area.

How do you celebrate your pet’s birthday?  Do you have a pet birthday party, bake pupcakes, buy special toys or plan adventures?  I went to a huge dog Birthday party this summer at Atlanta Dog Spa for a litter that was rescued by Angels Among Us.  It was so much fun!

There’s so many different things we can do to celebrate our pets I found this great link to creative gift ideas.  Let me know if you plan to do any of these.  Just do me a favor and don’t show Riedi & Margi the dog bone shaped puppy pool!  They will insist I get one.  I can see that now.  My backyard would be a mud-pit.  Then again, they may make me get a float for it and then push them around like this summer when we went swimming.
