What’s So Special About SlideShare?
In 2012, SlideShare was acquired by LinkedIn which is the preferred social media platform for a lot of a B2B companies (business to business).
I’m going to show you how I share my blogs and videos to Slideshare to get more views on my content. If you’re creating the content, you should be finding as many places as you can to share, repurpose and promote that content.
Share your Presentations
SlideShare is basically a YouTube for presentations. Originally it was designed for companies to share their presentations internally or to clients. However, it’s morphed into so much more than that with over 30 million unique visitors every single month.
I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been at a conference recently where the presenter made a note to tell everyone not to worry about copying their slideshow because they had uploaded it to SlideShare.
You can view my YouTube video above to watch how I turn my blog and video into a SlideShare presentation.
Because SlideShare was meant for presentations, the preferred type of file to upload is PowerPoint. You can also upload a PDF to SlideShare, but I normally stick to PowerPoint files.
Because I want a PowerPoint file and not a PDF, I use my computer’s snipping tool and take a screenshot and import them into my PowerPoint slides. You will want to do this with any images, as you currently cannot upload imaged to SlideShare.
From there, you can upload your PowerPoint presentation to SlideShare and add the title, description, and tags like you would your YouTube video.
Make sure that you set it as public, or no one will be able to see it. You will also want to add your YouTube link before the first slide so that your YouTube thumbnail shows up first.
That’s all there is to it!
Use a platform like Designrr to turn your blog into a PDF that doesn’t look like it was created from a blog post!
